I am always confused when I get an offer for something that is "free" but I have to buy one first to get the free one. Or I have to fill out a questionnaire. Or it is really a sweepstakes that I may or may not win. That is not free in my opinion. That is marketing, lead generation. The cost is my time, my privacy, and all the environmental damage done by the direct mail and marketing to me created by that process. I wonder if anyone has actually done the Cradle to Grave carbon analysis on something like that? What is the carbon impact of giving your name to a direct marketing organization? How many times will it be sold? How much junk mail will be created? Humm.. Interesting thought. Any ideas? So for my money, sites like QuickAndSimple, and most of the links promoted by FreebieCafe are carbon NEGATIVE. They are NOT FREE and are actual drivers of MORE consumption rather than less. I recommend to stay away.
